Dwyane Wade to meet with Joe Johnson, Chris Bosh and LeBron James in free agent summit
There has been a lot of speculation and anticipation surrounding this upcoming free agent market which officially starts on July 1st. Not only are there a lot of big name free agents that will become available this summer, but the league could look drastically different as many of these players have the potential to single handedly turn around an NBA franchise.
Amongst the biggest names available come July 1st are Joe Johnson of the Atlanta Hawks, Chris Bosh of the Toronto Raptors, Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat and LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
These four players will get more attention than most this summer as every team around the league wants to get their hands on these potential game changers, but even though some of these players might decide to team up together, the majority will want the spotlight for themselves.
The consensus is that LeBron James and Dwyane Wade will want an NBA franchise all to themselves, but recently D-Wade has said that he will meet with the three other big name free agents in what is being called a “free agent summit.”
This “free agent summit” will be intriguing to say the least as D-Wade and company will discuss their future, where everyone is planning to sign and potentially some teaming up in order to make an NBA superpower like the Los Angeles Lakers did a few years ago with Karl Malone and Gary Payton joining Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal.
Even though the Lakers were unable to win an NBA title back in 2004 against the Detroit Pistons, if Dwyane Wade and any of these big name free agents were to team up next season, they could be a force to be reckoned with in the NBA for years to come and quite possibly the next dynasty.
Obviously, the most desired and impactful free agent this summer will be LeBron James and a lot of speculation has surrounded his upcoming decision, but he is still very much undecided.
After the Cleveland Cavaliers were dominated by the Boston Celtics in the second round of the playoffs and went home much earlier than anticipated, LeBron’s mindset was thought to be extremely negative towards the Cavs and their chances of winning an NBA title from here on out.
With that being said, the New York Knicks and the Chicago Bulls stock rose through the roof as the odds of LeBron signing with those teams become a much better possibility.
Even though everyone will be wondering where these big name free agents might sign this summer, perhaps even more intriguing will be which of these players will decide to team up.
In my opinion, LeBron James will get a running mate in either Joe Johnson or Chris Bosh as the possibility of playing alongside King James be too much for them to pass up on as an NBA title might be in the near future as well. Not only will they have the opportunity to play with LeBron James and possibly win an NBA title, but they will also get a max deal if they team up in New York.
It is really uncertain up until this point on what will happen this summer, but it will be interesting to see how things pan out and how different the league will look next season.
